I want to throw a party just so Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band can come and play, not that I really need a reason to have them come and play.  The trio is welcome to play at my house anytime.  It wouldn’t be the first time that I received a noise ordinance for having band practice at my place.  It would totally be worth it.

The Luckiest Adventure EP was released earlier this year and definitely makes my list of must-have, family-friendly music.  Here is a list of the five toe-tapping tracks on the record:

Track 1: This Old Man – Lucky puts a modern, indie twist on this old English classic.  In my opinion, what they’ve done with “This Old Man” is what any band should be doing to spice up classic nursery rhymes.  It’s fun for the parents…and the kids.  My kids and I bust out laughing when the “old man” breaks into the song with his gruff voice and crazy antics.

Track 2: Blue Bear – The band really puts the “J” in jam with this song.  There’s clapping and hollering and just all sorts of goodness, people!  Just you try to tell me that it doesn’t make you feel like gettin’ down.

Track 3: Fire Fighter Girl – You want doo-wop?  You’ve got it.  This is the track that will have the grandparents scooping up the kids and dancing with them around the room.  I love that the band has incorporated the sound of the 50′s and 60′s into their music.

Track 4: Explorer – A sweet, acoustic song that has a unique sound but at the same time, reminds me of something you would hear from Jack Johnson.  I love all of the songs on the EP but I would have to say that Explorer is my favorite.

Track 5: Let Me Be Yours – This is a tune that makes you want to be surrounded by all of the people and things that you love on a pleasant, sunny day.  ‘Nuff said.

This is a great group of songs for the band’s second EP.  When you fall in love with these five songs, you’re going to want to pick up their 2009 release, Rainy Day Dimes.  Both recordings are available on iTunes and/or Amazon and we highly recommend listening to Lucky Diaz music on a daily basis.
