Congratulations to our winner, commenter number 40 – Elliot M.!
The nice weather is here (for the most part) and we’re ready to get out of the house. Our Britax Blink stroller arrived just in time. The stroller was sent to us from Britax for review.
Upon arrival, there was some assembly required. I snapped on the front wheels, the canopy and the two hinge covers (from the remedy kit provided by Britax due to a voluntary recall) and ladies and gentleman, we’re in business.
I took some time to review the stroller’s User Guide to familiarize myself with the strollers features and operating instructions. Aside from the superb quality, Britax products are easy to use. I feel confident enough about Britax to say that you are pretty much guaranteed excellence, so don’t even hesitate if you’re thinking about purchasing anything from this brand.
Now, back to the Blink.
The Blink is currently available in five contemporary patterns. We have the Double Dots fabric and I must say, my nine month old looks pretty adorable sitting in it:

This stroller is compared to umbrella strollers due to it’s light weight (16 lbs.) and compact features. It is suited for your 6 month old up to kids weighing 55 lbs. (my 4-1/2 year old can ride in it).
The ride is smooth (suspension in a lightweight, umbrella-like stroller, people!). Pushing the stroller is a breeze and the foam grip handles make it even more comfortable. The ease of steering is phenomenal (front wheels swivel). There is a storage pack in the back of the stroller and basket underneath (big enough to fit my Bumble Bag).
We put the Blink to the test yesterday by taking the nine month old on a three hour shopping trip. Not one complaint. She laid back, did some people watching, and kicked her leg around off the side of the leg rest. Today, we took a walk through the neighborhood and once again, she enjoyed the comfortable ride.
The Blink is compact and super portable, with a shoulder strap attached and it’s own storage case with two straps (hand and shoulder strap).
You can check out all of Blink’s features on the Britax site.
What you need to know is that right now, the Blink is on sale for $99 until supplies run out and the 2010 models are available. (MSRP $149.99)
Have I convinced you enough to consider getting one? I hope so. I can confidently tell you that you won’t regret it.

I try to schedule flights for naptime. Some people have that backfire, but I’ve been lucky so far. I also talked my 2 year old son’s ears off about drinking if his ears hurt on an airplane. He was so conditioned (brainwashed?) by the time the plane took off that he drank water without complaint. I will soon begin having that talk with my 1 year old.
Thanks for the giveaway – the stroller looks great.

As a mom of four who has taken her kids everywhere, my husband and I always made sure to pack plenty of snacks and drinks and toys. I can’t think of a better tip, having food along has saved the day every time.

I always bring a back carrier and my ring sling. I put my little guy on my back to get through security (they don’t make me take him out because it has no metal on it) and to the gate. Then I use the ring sling for getting on the plane and nursing during take off and landing (gives a little more security and privacy. We usually bring a stroller too so this one would be great. Our other is on it’s last leg. :)

I followed britax on twitter too! Can you tell we need a new travel stroller? :)
packing for the childs trip is very important, you’ll find that the wants and needs lists for little kids may actually be only one list. The trick is to consider what’s needed for keeping little ones content and you’ll soon realize that a lot of wants like toys and treats, really are “needs” for a long trip
mverno@roadrunner.com
I always pack light but make sure to have all my neccesities (based on your experience) but one thing I never leave home without is snacks, never go out without some snack in your purse, trust me.
Our son is too big for our umbrella stroller–the wheels won’t turn–but we need something lightweight. This stroller looks awesome and I love the 55 lb weight limit.
I have to agree with the other comments. I always found that taking lots of snacks really, really helps. Whether it’s a long car ride or a trip to Target. I’m known to open a bag of Natural Cheetos or cereal at the store and let my kids nosh (I pay for them, honestly!)
Also, books and toys are a must. On a long car trip I always put a bunch of board books and small toys within reach.
When we drove from Illinois to Vermont and back, I gave each kid a travel Doodle Pro. They loved drawing on them. But here’s my tip: make sure they match, otherwise it’s inevitable that one child will want the one the other has!
And maybe my best tip for the littlest ones: We had a back of the seat mirror for the car that had a remote and played music. My guy loved that when he was little. And if he fell asleep, I could turn it off easily.

make sure to bring plenty of snacks to avoid stops.
would be great for new grandbaby
Easy on/off shoes for the airport. They even make the babies take them off at security. Also, I never gave my babies sweets but on the airplane I sure did. A nice cup of pudding goes a llooonngg way with a cranky baby!!

I always bring a baby carrier with me when i travel. The worst thing to do when your traveling and going to all these places to sight-see, is having to unpack and set up the stroller, then having to load it back into the car. Nothing beats just getting out of the car and putting your baby in the carrier and GOING!

My best tip for traveling with infants? Carry lots of baby wipes (unscented are best) and gallon sized zip top bags. Both are handy for so many things.
I always as few diapers as possible then purchase some when we reach our destination. It saves A LOT of room in the suitcase!
I’m a fan on facebook :)
And on my previous post I ment to say “I always pack as few diapers as possible…”
Well, you’ve already got it taken care of, but I like to use an umbrella stroller when traveling by plane. It’s small enough that you can maneuver through all of the people and lines quickly and is easy to fold up and be stored at the gate check. The Blink looks like an awesome umbrella stroller and I love that it has a 55 lb. weight limit!
Flying is always a challenge with an infant….their poor little ears hurt during take off and landing. That is why I always take a bottle of water so they can suck on that during that time.
Thank you. :-)
I’ve never traveled with an infant but I’d imagine you should pack a 6-pack (for the parents, not the baby), hahahaha.
Good luck with traveling! I have never traveled with my son when he was an infant, so I can’t be of much help. STAY CALM!! =D

make sure you have everything you need.
Make sure you are comfortable (and the baby of course). We were delayed for 3 hours in an airport and my sneakers were worn out. I would have given anything for a comfortable pair of shoes when we were passing the time away by strolling up and down the hallways in the Snap N Go.

I have never flown with my daughter so I cant be of much help there. But when leaving the house for anything I pretty much make sure I am prepared for anything with her. Plenty diapers, snacks, wipes, and toys. I always have an extra outfit, one time I left house without she had a diaper accident and I had to make a stop to buy a new one. Food is our must have in my purse/ diaper bag, it keeps her the most happy :)
Make sure you have some of their favorite things in their very own bag. It will entertain them and make them feel special to have their own bags!
when I traveled with my daughter, I made sure that she was nursing(or you could do bottle) at take off so that her little ears would pop. I also made sure she had her comfort items, blanket and pacifier. Bring at least a toy or two, and if your infant is big enough, some snacks.

In addition to toys and books, we bring their Leapster2′s and dvd players.
I always found that when travelling with an infant it’s important to bring along items to entertain the little one and do a lot of cuddling so baby isn’t bored or neglected. It makes a much happier vacation.

My best tip is to go to the dollar store, or save little things all year to make up an activity/fun bag (Color books, balls, yoyos, markers, little toys, puzzles etc…) to keep the kiddos busy.

I’ve never flew when my kids were very young, but on long car trips I make sure they have plenty to snack on. For my toddler, I pack new toys or at least ones that have been packed away for awhile so that they seem new to him. A portable DVD player with their favorite show or just music has helped them last a little longer too.

I always take plenty of snacks and travel packs of wipes, along with a change of clothes in a plastic bag in my carry-on.
I have travelled alot with my infant and found the most important thing is a good nursing cover up. My little one is breastfed, she does take a bottle but found being able to nurse really soothes them. It is also very helpful during take off and landing for airplanes. In fact most trips she slept through the flight once she has nurses.

When anyone travels with my nephew they pack extra diapers (always!), a new toy to surprise him with, and some sort of hands-free sling/Baby Bjorn so they can navigate the airport or baggage claim with ease!
I always pack light. If I pack too much, my little guy has TOO many choices! Too many snacks, books, small toys…and that makes things worse in the case of a tantrum. I keep it simple…and hope for the best! :)

I hope the wee one is a pacifier user. Sucking helps during takeoff and landing. If not, have a bottle ready…will do the same thing. (Gum for older kids works too.)
Traveling with kids…..on a plane pack some “new to them toys” . I always go to the thrift store and grab a bunch of fun toys and books. Also, if they get left behind at least they didn’t cost a fortune!
Always pack some pain/fever medicine and a few bandaids. Nobody wants to be running around a strange new place all panicky with a sickie kiddie looking for a drugstore!
I traveld with my baby every month for the past 5 months. I thought I was going to die, carrying everything. I made sure the flights were at night, so she would sleep through them. Gave her motrin for her ears a head of time, because she screamed her head off and annoyed everyone on the plane during take off and landing. Its also important to keep them happy so I let her use my itouch, and other toys as well untill she fell asleep. As for a stroller, make sure its sturdy(mine was a piece of crap) and I am 6’1, so this Britax Blink looks like it will make airport travel easy and will not kill my back! We are on a plane again in May!

I haven’t yet traveled with my 14 month old (flying at least we did go to the beach last year) but we have traveled with my neice when she was younger and we always made her a fun travel kit of things to do while on the airplane. We would put age-appropriate things such as coloring books, crayons, her favorite books, some of her favorite snacks and a candy necklace that kept her busy for a long time.

My top tip for traveling with an infant – especially flying – have a wrap! My wrap enables me to have my infant strapped to me (required during takeoff and landing), AS WELL AS he can have breast during those times his little ears need to equalise… AND, for those people concerned about modesty, no one can tell! (not that I care tho. LOL)
Top tip for traveling with any child over 1 – GET A DVD PLAYER. whether you’re driving, flying, whatEVER – our dvd player has been INVALUABLE – BEST $100 we’ve EVER spent. We moved our family from Melbourne Aus, to small town, Canada, and the resulting roadtrips after to go back to Vancouver to pick up our shipment (all our stuff), visit family in other areas of the province, etc could NOT have been survived without our DVD player. And I might add that this works so well for us because TV is VERY VERY limited in our house – makes it a MAJOR treat during road trips!
And always important – lots of water, and snackies, like so many have already said (especially if you have picky eaters and you’re flying).

Traveling tip — Don’t leave home without a Moby wrap! Sometimes the only thing that will keep the baby happy is to be held, and the Moby lets you “hold” the baby without breaking your arms or back, and you still have two arms. Plus, the Moby can be easily stored in a bag or purse and it doesn’t take up all the space in your luggage. It can be a lifesaver for parents and babies!
And…. numero quattro…

Put anything that might leak in a plastic baggie. We always put the baby’s soap/lotions/diaper rash cream/etc. in plastic baggies so that if they leak, they leak into the baggie, and not all over everything in the bag. You never know when your bag will get squished and the last thing you need when traveling is a mess inside your bag! The freezer ziplock-type baggies work great for this because they’re thicker and sturdier than the storage bags.

As a mom of a nine month, I take plenty of snacks and juice container with the juice cup. I keep water in the bottles so I can just add the powdered formula to it and not have to worry about warming it because it will be room temp. I also pack plenty of toys and keep a travel pack of boogie wipes and sanitizer for on the go also. I also keep orajel on hand

When traveling with infants I always try to remember their favorite blanket (reminds them of home -I think), and try to keep everything the same. Same schedule as much as possible, same food/formula, and favorite toy. Other than that just make it fun for yourself and for them. Also, my iphone is great for playing music to them as we travel.

My best advice for traveling on a plane with an infant is #1 have a great carrier (I prefer the Moby wrap). #2 Feed/nurse the baby during take-off – it helps relieve the pressure in their ears.

Bring out some new, small toys that don’t make too much noise. The $1.00 section at Target is a great place to pick up some things.

For traveling with an infant, driving at night or trying to find evening flights makes a world of difference. Your baby will be upset that the routine is different, but traveling when it’s dark will help them sleep more soundly.
For traveling with an infant my best advice is try to start driving when they are ready for a nap as we have found that sometimes our little guy will even nap much longer in the car! Also, don’t forget to bring along a soother (helps for flying too with the pressure in the ears) & blankie!

I always take plenty of snacks and toys and a portable DVD if you have one!
My best advice for air travel with an infant is to breastfeed on takeoff and landing to decrease ear pressure. Other than that, take along patience and allow yourself plenty of time, no matter what your travel plans are. Expect that everything will take longer than you think, and just roll with it.
We’re flying this summer, too, so I’ll wish us both luck! :)
I follow Britax on Twitter (@Hobo_Mama).
It has been many years since I have traveled with an infant, but unless you are going to someplace that absolutely has no stores, remember that you don’t really have to take all of the ‘consumables’ with you. That should allow you to estimate the amount of snacks, diapers, wipes, etc., you need for the travel portion itself while expecting to replenish when you reach your destination. If the child has a favorite toy/blanket/whatever, that is important to take along. This is NOT the time to try to break the habit.
This is a given but always bring extra clothes in the carry on. I have had to buy a shirt in the airport bc it got wet
I became a fan of Britax on facebook
My best travel tip is to pack a separate backpack or messenger bag for each child.
Inside each put things that they enjoy or bring comfort to them. A favorite game, stuffed animal, coloring books and crayons etc.
Also include their favorite healthy snacks and juice box drinks. and perhaps a snuggly blanket and travel pillow.
This makes traveling much easier for them and you.
Thank you so much for the chance to win.

I found that when I traveled with my daughter it was best to pack light for plane trips, and then buy formula and diapers once we got to the destination. Her stuff alone would have taken up an extra suitcase!
My traveling has slowed down considerably since my son has grown but when he was an infant we traveled a lot! I’d tried to coordinate trips (especially flying) with times I knew he’d need to rest. In the event he wouldn’t zonk out I was sure to bring along lots of books, snacks, toys and things to keep him busy. I always packed a small bag with new things and a few old favorites to keep his interest!
Happy travels Amy! and thanks for this post. I’m in the market for a new stroller massively! I haven’t had one since Xavy outgrew the sling and I neeed one! :)
Traveling with kids is never easy but there are a few things that can make it so smoother. One small trick was to carry quite a few ziploc bags to store all the messes my daughter made on long trips.
One thing that I found very useful on long overnight flights was the baby bassinet that airplanes have. We used them twice, and although the quality and guidelines varies from company to company, both times was a lifesaver when my daughter was still young enough to fit in one.
Always pack light when appropriate and don’t forget your child’s most favorite things!
Bring small snacks! And don’t forget the blankie! :)
I’ve flown twice with my daughter, who is now 18 months. The first time she was 3 months old and the second time she was 8 months. Both times we traveled alone, and my advice is, even though kids under 2 fly free on their parents lap…purchase a seat. I didn’t, but was lucky enough to have the seat next to me vacant on all parts of both of my journeys. I couldn’t imagine having a stranger squished next to me while I’m holding an infant trying to get something out of the diaper bag!!

For planes, bring a bottle/pacifier or breastfeed on takeoff and landing to help baby’s ears adjust. Otherwise baby will be screaming because of the pressure change (and all the people near you will be screaming at you!)
I think bringing plenty of snacks and toys is important when traveling with an infant or toddler.

My best advice is to get on the plane as early as possible. You want to be able to get yourself situated with all the essentials before take off. Snacks and drinks are a great distraction for a crabby baby, but be sure it you’re bringing milk or juice to have a small sealed container (some airports enforce the no open containers policy harder than others) when you’re boarding the plane and a empty bottle or sippy cup to pour it into once you get on the plane.

Best advice is to pack everything you can the day/night before. That way you are less likely to forget the items you need the most. I know that I tend to forget a LOT when I try to pack up things right before leaving. Bringing a carrier also helps because you do not have to lug around and store a stroller. I think that purchasing an extra seat next to you is a great idea.

Take an extra large purse as a carry on. That way you can fit in extra things like new & interesting toys, snacks, wipes and fresh diapers & stuff like that. Also try to book on a relatively empty flight if at all possible…weekdays/midday I am guessing.
