If you’re not already familiar, In The Motherhood is a series of stories online written by real moms, for moms. What is unique is that you can submit your stories, have them voted on and if your story wins, you can watch it acted out by professional actors. Starring in the second season of these fabulous webisodes are Leah Remini (The King of Queens fame), Jenny McCarthy (model/actress/author) and Chelsea Handler (stand-up comedian). Check out this webisode from the second season, “Infamous 3rd Date” where Chelsea Handler’s character, Heather, gets a little “surprise”:
The shows are a hoot! I think it’s fantastic that we can share our real life situations with other parents in this way and really get a good laugh out of them. Unfortunately, the submissions are closed for this season but I suggest we all keep an eye out for the debut of season three and if you’re anything like me, I’m sure you’ll have a couple of good stories to share too and who knows…one of these fine actresses may just play the part of YOU!

A particularly disastrous parenting moment was when my oldest son was potty training. I left him watching a movie while his younger brother slept and went downstairs to put a load of laundry in. Less than 5 minutes later my son appeared in the laundry room doorway, naked, holding his poopy diaper and COVERED in poop. He said “mommy, I pooped” and I said “NO NO NO NO NO!” and followed the trail of poopy footprints and handprints all the way up my carpeted stairs, through my kitchen, through my living room and down the hallway to his room where he had apparently taken off his poop filled diaper and stepped in it and wiped it on his quilt and himself. The house absolutely stank.
I wept. I hollered at him (woke the baby up in the process). I gave him a roll of paper towel and still sobbing I made him help me clean up. My poor little boy was crying and saying “I’m sorry mommy”. I called his father at work and when he heard my hysterics he came home and rescued us all. Luckily he only works 2 minutes from our house.
He never did that again. Poor kid.

That was so funny! A friend of mine put her 7 month old in a jump-a-roo, she left the room to start laundry, when she came back he was jumping up and down smashing poop into her white carpet, just smiling away. The diaper did not hold.

I gave my son his lunch of vegetable soup at the counter in the kitchen. When I turned around I found him spooning the soup into the toaster and pushing the button down. I asked why he was doing that he said he wanted to warm up his soup. I had alphabet pasta cooking on the coils in my toaster.
My oldest daughter is 16 years old, and she is in ROTC (Air Force division). She was shining her shoes for competition the other day and was complaining to her father (ex-Army man), that she couldn’t get them shined enough.
He told her that the only advice he had was to put a little elbow grease into it.
She came back out of her room about 10 minutes later looking a bit perplexed saying, “Ok.. I don’t have alot of grease on my elbow, and I tried rubbing it on with my elbow, but it’s hurting the bone.”
Yea… we all died laughing, and I can’t see her EVER living that one down!

Oh my goodness this video was so funny! The camping scene reminded me of when my kids and I stayed in a cabin in Utah this summer. Early in the morning we heard noises like a bear! We so freaked out and all huddled together while waiting for it to go away! Well later that morning someone told us that the sounds we heard were not a bear, but two bulls fighting. (We were right next door to a ranch!)
